Hi, folks. This is Angela Lambru, creator of The Kit Bull Story. I want to personally welcome and thank you for joining us today. This is your podcast where animals have a voice. Follow Kit Bull as she shares some fun and meaningful stories with a message for everyone. Now sit back and enjoy the episode.

Wild in the city doggy daycare, Fran comes to pick up her dog, Chanel. She chats with Rose, the proprietor, and learns about Kit's previous life. Meanwhile, Chanel opens up to Kit.

“Hello, Rose. Look, my Chanel got a manicure today.”

“Oof, that Chanel. She's such a princess. Oh, mon dieu. I see she is with her best friend Kit again. She just adores her Kit.”

“Hi, Fran. Yes, everyone seems to love Kit. Dogs, cats, even birds, too. You know, it's as if she talks to them. She's just a very special dog, in spite of her background.”

“Oh la la, she does have a special aura. But what do you mean, in spite of her background?”

“Oh, it's what she's been through. It's an incredible story. She was taken as a puppy from her mother and was used as bait for fighting dogs.”

“Oh mon dieu, but how did she end up here?”

“Well, the drug dealer got arrested. Kit was tranquilized and brought in to be put to sleep. But these amazing rescuers took her in, rehabilitated her, and brought her here hoping to get her a forever home. But we decided to keep her since she's so wonderful with the other dogs.”

“Oof, what a story. So glad you kept her. My Chanel so looks forward to her visit with her. Well, we got to go. See you soon. Bye-bye, Kit. Allér! Bien, chérie! Let's go, Chanel!”

Kit interacted with different dogs every week, and she seemed to be helping them. The first dog she talked to was a poodle named Chanel. She wore a lot of bling around her neck. Her nails were painted purple, and she couldn't stop crying.

“I just want to play in the mud and get dirty. I don't want to go to the beauty parlor anymore. I hate going there. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I'm not even allowed to sniff other dogs' bums.”

“Um, what happens if you do sniff another dog's bum?”

“Are you kidding? My mom will go crazy cleaning my face. She practically rips my nose off with those stupid wipes. She thinks I'm her doll. I mean, I'm grateful to have a home and food, but I can't be me.”

“Oh, Kit, what can I do?”

“Aw, your mom means well. That's how she loves you. But I understand how important it is to be yourself.”

“You can always talk to me. And you can be yourself here. But you know, it's impossible to stay clean in this place. I'll bet Rose will rub off on your mom. She's really wonderful and very wise. Let's go play.”

“Okay. She's calling me. I have to go. Now she's going to wipe my face. Just watch. Well, bye. See you soon. And thanks for listening to me.”

“Of course. Keep your chin up.”

Chanel kept coming to Wild in the City Doggy Daycare for the next couple of months. She talked and played with Kit a lot. One day, another kind of similar-looking poodle, but a little bit dirty, came in. She was running around the yard looking quite happy.

“Woof, Hi Kit!”

“Chanel?”

“Yes, it's me. I came to say goodbye. Hi, my mom had a change of heart. She noticed how happy I was after coming here. And she couldn't keep up with me getting dirty. Oh, I still go to the beauty parlor, but just to get cleaned up. No more fancy haircuts, nail polish, or bling for me. Yay!”

“What about sniffing dog bums?”

“We compromised on that one. I sniff- she wipes. We're moving to the country where I'll have a big yard all to myself. Oh, take care, Kit, and thanks for everything.”

Although it was hard to say goodbye to her good friend, Kit was glad Chanel finally got to be herself!
