The Kit Bull Story — Season 1, Episode 3

Kit meets Scat, a loner, street-smart cat with a straightforward, matter-of-fact attitude. Despite the nips and scratches, he is an elegant-looking feline. His favorite pastime is visiting house cats, some of which are his friends. He's perched on a branch looking down at Kit.
“Hey, how do you do that? Wow, aren't you scared? Do you live around here? What's your name? I'm Kit.”
“Whoa, so many questions. It's a balancing thing we cats do. And nope, I'm not scared. I live here and I live there and my name is Scat. Pleased to meet you.”
“You mean you don't have a home? And who feeds you?”
“I always find a place to curl up in and I usually find food in garbage cans and sometimes I get lucky when people leave food out for me.”
“It's really not that bad. It's rather cool except when I hear the voice of humans yelling at me. Scat, you cat. Scat. That kind of stuck. And I like it better than Mr. Periwinkle, my former name. Don't you think?”
“But who takes care of you?”
“I do. I had a human family once, but I ran away because I got smacked when I filed my nails on their furniture. And then they kept me locked in a room. I had no freedom. I just couldn't take all the rules they imposed on me. But I'm happy now, enjoying the splendor of nature on my own terms. Ah, nature.”
“I can relate, Scat, but not every human is bad. There are nice people like Rose here whom I live with. Maybe she can help you find a nice, caring home.”
“I don't know, Kit. I'm happier now, and I have lots of cat friends I visit with. Some live on the streets and some in homes. Ahhem, but when I hear some of the stories of the ones that aren't allowed to go out, well, I don't know. Hey, but thanks for the offer. Maybe I'll think about it.”
“Well, you're welcome here anytime. I don't know anything about cats. I'd love to hear about your friends.”
“Sure thing, Kit. See you around.”
Kit and Scat become good friends. They would visit often, share a meal and some good stories. And Kit learned a lot about cats.
